Why Purity Matters: Understanding the Distillation Process

Cutting corners in distillation leads to impurities, lower potency, and an overall inferior product.
Our distillation process begins with precise extractions performed at -40°C. Working at such low temperatures helps preserve the delicate compounds and ensures that we start with a clean base. Once extracted, the oil is filtered down to 1 micron, removing any fine particulates that could compromise the final quality. Most producers aren’t filtering to this degree, and that’s where impurities start slipping into their distillate. It’s these steps—these details—that separate a great product from a mediocre one.
At DOJA Labs, we distill our oil twice, but that’s not all. Between each distillation, we take it even further with additional filtration to ensure we’re delivering a product that’s as pure as it gets. This process allows us to achieve a high potency while maintaining the clarity and purity our customers expect. We control every variable—vacuum pressure, heat, and time—allowing us to distill at the lowest possible temperatures to isolate tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), or Δ9-tetrahydrocannabinol, while protecting the integrity of the compound. A lot of brands don’t pay attention to these details and end up running their distillations at higher temps, which degrades the final product.
Even after distillation, the work isn’t done. At DOJA Labs, we nitrogen-seal every jar of our distillate to lock in freshness. This prevents oxidation and keeps the oil as potent and pure as it was the moment it was produced. Our goal is always to deliver a product that hasn’t lost any of its potency or flavor by the time it reaches the customer.
